  • Fall Break at the Mars

    Spend Fall Break at the historic MARS Theater! The afternoon begins at 1:00 PM with a FREE community screening of The Little Princess (1939), starring Shirley Temple. Admission is free, but reservations are required due to limited seating.

    At 6:00 PM, the MARS gets weird with a $15 Retro-Horror Double Feature featuring Night of the Living Dead (1968) followed by Plan 9 from Outer Space (1959). One evening ticket includes both films. Come downtown, grab some popcorn, and enjoy an afternoon or evening at the movies! Presented by The Matchbox Drive-Thru Wedding Chapel and Matchbox Mystery Experiences.

  • Hocus Pocus

    Saturday, October 24th at 7:00 PM

    Three 17th-century witches, hanged for their murderous crimes, are resurrected on Halloween in modern-day Salem by an unsuspecting boy, who must now figure out how to get them back in the ground.

    Revisit this family favorite at the Mars Theater. Doors open at 6:15pm.

  • National Geographic Photographer Stephen Alvarez: Ancient Cave Art

    Sunday, October 25th at 3:00 PM

    Alvarez is a photographer and filmmaker who has spent years documenting caves and ancient rock art sites around the world. In this presentation he will explore the topic, which corresponds with the release of his new book, “Rock Art: An American Story, co-written with Tlingit editor Kate Nelson.

Your Questions, Answered

  • The Mars Theater is a public theater intended to host public events that drive traffic to Downtown LaFayette. Priority booking will always go to public events. The theater may be rented for private events Monday through Thursday.

    Friday, Saturday, and Sunday rentals may be booked only within three weeks of the event date, if the date is still available. Private event rentals are $175.

  • Contact us through the booking form below, and make sure you include links to your social media sites, and to samples of your music.

  • The Mars Theater hosts live plays, cinema, comedy shows, live music, and more. As a community event venue, we are open a wide-variety of entertainment options for all ages.

  • You can reach us anytime via our contact page or email listed below.

  • We are currently piloting several pricing models, to include a percentage of net ticket sales, to having performers rent the facility.

  • Entertainers work with Mars Theater either through a flat-rate facility rental or a ticket revenue split. Either way, only the Mars Theater's share counts as profit — and every dollar of that goes right back into keeping the theater running. So every ticket you buy helps keep the Mars alive and thriving.
